Time Traveller

by Ian C Black

Having successfully calculated the formulae for time travel and completed the first tests to confirm his theory. John was left in a state of uncertainty. What was he going to use his discovery for, or should he just publish and let others develop the use of Time exploration.

John’s main concern was the potential damage that could be done by the incorrect use of time travel. Those who went back in time and obliterated whole families and those who went forwards the returned to use information gained to their advantage.

John wanted time travel to be a useful discovery and not a frivolous or financially beneficial playground of the rich and superficial arogantstocracy. He had toiled for 15 years to finally discover the full secret of safe time travel and was not going to stand by and watch accidents of birth use it as a replacement for their recreational drugs.

One aspect of the time travel phenomenon that John had discovered still confused him. He was not clear as to the interaction of the traveller within the new time zone. From early experimental work he had undertaken it would appear that the interaction varied in respect to induction variables. This was the area he needed to clearly understand. If his instincts were correct, he would be able to control the interaction by the induction method and prevent changes to past events. However, he was still unclear as to the way he would stop the return from future time zones with information, which could be used for gain in the present.

John now realised, the discovery of time travel was the easy step, it was the control of activity and individuals undertaking time travel that would be the difficult part. He realised that he could travel into the future and find out how he managed to resolve this, but using that knowledge on his return would - ironically - breach this aim. Also, someone could come back from the future and stop him implementing the restrictions.

Time travel truly was the ultimate conundrum.
